U.S. EBay Seller Refuses Canucks

from the ridiculous dept

First Freedom Fries, and now using eBay to knock people who live in countries who don't support the current war in Iraq. It seems people are going a little overboard directing "blame" for their political views towards people or things that really have nothing to do with the issues at hand. Doesn't seem like the most productive solution. An American eBay seller has told a Canadian buyer it won't honor his high bid on a laser printer on eBay because Canada doesn't support the war against Iraq. Of course, the seller has the right to not sell their product (though, it seems like a bad business decision), but this certainly seems like an odd (and somewhat useless) way to make a point.

How often do Canadians make useless anti-American points? Been to Canada lately?

continuing the same reasoning, maybe it is better not to use cars at all, the oil is the big prize in Iraq, huh?

90% of the world's oil does not come from Iraq. The Muslims tried banning oil exports twice in the 1970s, but there are plenty of oil fields all over the world now.

If I were the buyer, I'd say "fine" and organize a boycoot against the seller (assuming he's a frequent ebay seller)
