A Night In The Hotel Of The Future

from the just-one-night? dept

I travel enough to know that just about every "basic" hotel room is pretty much the same. Sure, on the high end you can get some nice amenities, but if you're just looking for a place to sleep, it looks pretty much the same, and has the same features everywhere you go - and they haven't changed in years. I hardly consider adding a "data port" (read: phone jack) as a technology advancement. That may be changing. Last year, we had a story about the intelligent minibar that controlled the entire hotel room. However, that's just the beginning of how hotels are looking to join the 21st century. A reporter from PC World had the chance to spend a night in Hilton's hotel room of the future, which is where they're experimenting with all sorts of gadgets to make your stay nicer. From the description in the article it sounds like the in-room features are quite nice, but the bathroom features need a lot of work.
