Who's Surfing Internet Porn? Might Not Be Who You Would Expect

from the education-and-inspiration? dept

A recent study from Nielsen/NetRatings has found that, despite the general perception of who is surfing porn sites, one-third of porn site visitors are women. The article doesn't go into details, so it's unclear how they defined "porn sites" and how they measured this. They do quote one woman who claims that "you can get both education and inspiration" from the sites. So, maybe that's the defense schools and libraries should use for not filtering the internet: it's "educational" (yes, I'm joking). Anyway, I don't think it's all that surprising that there are women who like porn (studies have shown that before), but I'd say the details of the study need to be explained a bit more before people go jumping to conclusions.

BTW, if you don't think there is a double standard for men and women in the workplace, you're dead wrong. She got off (so to speak) without so much as a repramand. I've seen male counterparts keelhauled and fired for far less.

...and you'll never hear about it either; once let off, the issue becomes sexual harassment foder.
