Good Samaritan Hacker Gets Home Detention

from the questions,-questions... dept

Seems like today is the day for stories about hackers finding and pointing out vulnerabilities... and getting in trouble for it. It certainly is a very fine line. Now, Adrian Lamo who was famous for breaking, entering and then telling has been sentenced to 6 months home detention and 2 years probation, rather than any time in jail. It's a bit surprising he didn't get slapped with worse punishment, considering the way hacking cases normally turn out these days.

  • whose home?

Last time I checked, Mr Lamo didn't HAVE a home; he drifted, borrowed friends' pads, took greyhound a lot.

The closest thing to a home he has, then, is a bus station. Are they gonna make him sleep THERE?
