Andy Rooney Yells At Bill Gates For Computer Power Button Placement

from the um...-time-to-aim-better dept

Andy Rooney is known for complaining. That's his schtick. He's not known for always getting the complaint right, however. In his latest set of complaints he's blaming Bill Gates for making his computer suck. He might be completely right on that front... However, he has two specific complaints and one of them has absolutely nothing to do with Microsoft of Bill Gates. He complains that the power button on every computer he's bought has been in a different spot. That may be true, but it's certainly not Bill's fault. His second complaint is an old joke that has been forwarded around by email for ages, about how odd it is that you need to press the "start" button to "shut down". He does have one good quote concerning the fact that you need to keep buying new computers, while typewriters would last forever: "I had one typewriter for 50 years, but I've bought seven computers in six years. I suppose that's why Bill Gates is rich and Underwood is out of business."

  • typewriters better?

Yeah, and it was just so much fun taking out a little white strip and carefully inserting it on the page every time you made a simple spelling error. Not to mention realizing you'd left a sentence out somewhere and having to type the whole page, if not the whole document, over again. Those manual typewriters were so much fun...

I still have my Underwood, and it's never once gotten a virus or needed to be rebooted. It's not so great at doing math, but I have my slide rule for that.
