The Internet Doesn't Have All The Answers

from the in-case-you-hadn't-noticed dept

Once again, this shouldn't come as a surprise, but (gasp!) the internet might not hold all the answers - and some of the answers it does hold, might not be true. Most people, of course, know this intuitively, but it doesn't seem to stop people from making stupid mistakes. The article linked here quotes someone saying a doctor actually prescribed a certain drug after an internet search didn't turn up any dangerous side effects - despite the fact that those side-effects were listed in the printed material from the drug manufacturer. Of course, the person telling that story doesn't give any details, so it could be a made up story, but it does make you wonder what the doctor in question was thinking.
