Kazaa Illegal In Germany... But Not For The Reason You Might Expect

It appears that intellectual property laws in Europe have finally caused problems for Kazaa... but it's probably not in the way you'd expect. It isn't copyright infringement that's the problem, but trademark rights. A German company has won its dispute claiming that the name Kazaa is confusingly similar to their database search software, Casa. Now, Kazaa is being told they may not be able to use the name Kazaa at all in Germany. Of course, with the widespread use of Kazaa it really makes you wonder if folks in Germany haven't already figured out what it is, and how it's different from Casa.
