Supremes Knock Anti-Porn Law Again

from the haven't-we-seen-this-movie-before? dept

Once again, the government has tried to create a law that bans porn online, and once again the Supreme Court has read the law and read the Constitution and realized that those First Amendment Rights actually mean something. The COPA law has been declared unconstitutional again — though, it was a close vote. The case will also go back to the lower court, so it’s not entirely a settled matter yet. Update: The original article has been updated, and Ernest Miller has chimed in to make it clear that, unlike the original claim from the article (which we then used in this post), the ruling has little to do with the constitutionality of the law (though, the quotes from the ruling certainly suggest it does…). Instead (as the post originally stated), it’s just sending the case back to the lower court.
