Broadband Users Better At Trivial Pursuit

from the real-knowledge?--we-don't-need-no-stinkin'-real-knowledge dept

Now that so many people have broadband, what are they doing with it? Broadband Reports points to a study suggesting that broadband users know a lot more useless info. They know a lot more from all that surfing — but a lot of it is really trivial information. Of course, they determine this based on how involved users are with “important political developments,” which seems like a fairly subjective metric. A more reasonable conclusion might be that people who are politically active find that important enough to do, even at dialup speeds. Once they get broadband, however, they don’t increase their political activity, because they’ve already gotten as involved as they could — so they use the extra speed to do other things that are important to them.
