Wrong Button Pusher Almost Evacuates Connecticut

from the whoops,-sorry-about-that... dept

You would think that sending out the order to "evacuate the entire state of Connecticut" would take more than a simple push of a button. Apparently, that's not the case. Someone "accidentally" pushed that button today and broadcasters received an emergency notice to tell everyone to get the hell out of the state. It was only supposed to be a test ("this is a test, this is only a test, please stare at the weird pattern on your screen and listen to the annoying beep; this is only a test"), but instead, the actual evacuation order went out. The state is now apologizing and telling people not to worry. Of course, there's no indication of just how many people actually did try to evacuate.

This may be a good scenario for one of those "Are you sure you want to...?" dialogue boxes.

Some people may have been frightened...

Some people may have evacuated without even trying.
