Who Does 911 Call When Their Phones Explode?

from the uh...-912? dept

There have been plenty of stories about random exploding phones, usually due to counterfeit batteries overheating. However, in an unusual twist, it turns out the latest case of an exploding mobile phone happened to a 911 dispatcher while she was on duty. The phone apparently burned a hole in her pocket, fell to the ground and exploded. Of course, it raises tha natural (joke) question of who does a 911 dispatcher call when they have an emergency? Either way, it's a good reminder to all of you who keep wanting more powerful batteries. Batteries are basically bombs... the more powerful they are, the more powerful the explosion can be.

The standard LI-ion battery is by nature rather energetic. Here's a nice video that makes me want asbestos under garments when using a lap top with an LI-ion battery.

I don't know if their "safe" battery is a good battery but the video of LI-ion batteries failing is interesting.

    Ok... I have no life.
