Scientologists Recognize Inevitability Of Losing Links Case

from the whoops dept

Just a day before the Dutch Supreme Court was supposed to weigh in on whether Scientologists could get someone on copyright infringement just for linking to content they didn't want online, it appears someone explained to them how unlikely this case was to succeed -- so they're trying to drop it completely. However, the person accused of putting up the links is pushing for the case to continue. It would be good to have yet another confirmation that linking to content is not the same as hosting it yourself. In the meantime, this is yet another example of the Streisand Effect, where simply trying to make something online disappear has only succeeded in getting it that much more attention.

Recently scientology derived its own version of the 'Streisand Effect'.
Scientologists now have their own proprietary 'Tom Cruz Effect'.
It's based on the realization that 'truth' is like a brick
and that half a brick can be thrown twice as far.

that since Kirstie Alley first became involved with Scientology, she has gained a great deal.
