No, No, No! It's This Monday That's Cyber Monday... Maybe
from the or-maybe-it's-next-monday dept
A few weeks ago, we wrote about how the idea that the Monday after Thanksgiving is somehow the busiest online shopping day of the year known as "Cyber Monday" was actually completely made up by a bunch of online marketers hoping to boost interest in online sales. The truth was that the Monday after Thanksgiving is nothing special. Of course, now that it's in the past and out of everyone's minds, another company is now claiming that this coming Monday is the real busiest online shopping day of the year... unless it's the following Monday. Or, they say, there's a possibility that it would be the Monday after that. But, you know, one of these Mondays. Meanwhile another firm is asking what Monday has to do with anything. They insist that "Cyber Monday" is really a Tuesday. That's right, next Tuesday might be the biggest online shopping day of the year. But, maybe not. Of course, since you don't have to brave the crowds at the mall... do you really care?

Tuesday..
Tuesday makes more sense. Why? That's when all the entertainment and electronic items are released; Games; Movies; Music. 360 was released on a Tuesday among many other things.

Out of Time
You'd better figure it out soon, otherwise it will be too late to receive your shipments before Christmas. Then you'll have to go to a STORE (where the busiest shopping day is not the day after Thanksgiving, but is actually the last Saturday before Christmas).

Thats a good thing? The 360 is an abomininaation to all video games.

Re: Tuesday..
That has less than nothing to do with the fact that the 360, like many electronics and other entertainment goods, was released on a Tuesday. Nobody said it was good or bad, either.

No, it's not *day, ...
Not Monday or Tuesday or any other day. It's every night after the spouse goes to bed and you can shop without your significant other seeing their gift over your shoulder.

I can see how Monday would be a good day to order; seeing how credit cards aren't processed and items aren't shipped on weekends.

Laziness...
I bought a remote control on-line so I did have to look for it at the store. It was nice to have someone say "Let me go get that for you."

Hype or not, it is true for our site
In our online business selling various consumer electronics, traffic and buying has been at its peak for the year on the Monday after Thanksgiving. This has been true for three years running.
Mondays are almost always the peak of the week, and hottest during business hours -- our theory is that people talk or see things over the weekend then use their broadband connection at work to close the deal.
So it's not completely a myth. Unless maybe I am part of the conspiracy!

Re: Laziness...
I was thinking the same thing.... You bought a remote control online or in the store or what? Make up your mind.

he is saying that he went online to find the object, then went into the store to tell the clerk to retreive the item he saw online.
