Porn Industry Lusting After IPTV

from the minds-in-the-gutter dept

The adult industry is always quick to jump on new technologies, as it’s done with satellite TV, the Internet, DVD and others. Now, it’s peering over the horizon at IPTV, with one company getting all hot and bothered at the prospect of offering per-minute billing for movies. Apparently it’s a successful business model for its streaming movies on the web, where people buy 550,000 minutes of video per day (no word on how long the average session lasts). What’s next, set-top boxes with slots for quarters?

How about this: amateur teasing on Google?

Google video lets anyone post and sell their videos. What about amateurs that prance around for like 1 minute, then you can purchase the rest of the video and watch them get nekkid.

I am not a fan of this, I just think it is an idea that SOMEBODY is going to have…

They're gonna have a hard time....

Pun not intended really. I don’t know how they expect to make money since there is a subscription based IPTV porn site already going, xtv.com, that gives you like 50 channels for $29.95/mo(I think, I can’t find the pricing now). And their pay-per-view is like $6 or so per movie AND you get to “keep” the PPV forever, or until you cancel your service.

They’ve been in business for a few months now and seem to be doing rather well. Some of the people I’ve talked with that have used it say the picture quality is pretty decent and the system, a tv set top box, is pretty easy to setup. There were a few complaints about service in the beginning but they seem to have hired a few extra people and have it working fairly smoothly.

I don’t know about you but I’d rather pay $29.95/mo.

I am not affiliated with XTV in any shape form or fashion. Hell, I’m not even a subscriber yet. I simply heard they have an awesome deal.

Porn is Porn...

Why pay?

Porn is porn…it’s all over the internet for free!

Perhaps I’m missing the point. Maybe there is better porn than others but isn’t porn about having sex, exhibitionism, and more sex?

How far can anyone put a twist on porn and make it something more than what I’ve stated?

If there is a variant of porn I’m unaware of…what is it?

It’s all over the internet people and it’s free. No matter what you do with it, all you need watch is about 10 minutes worth to notice a difference.
