3G Layoffs And Delays

In the roller coaster ride that is the mobile industry today is a down day. European carriers Orange and Hutchison 3G continue to be plagued with problems. Orange is cutting 1800 people in the UK and Denmark plus they have pushed back their UK 3G launch till 2003 (maybe even 2004, we've seen both dates used in stories) and they have no solid dates for 3G outside of the UK. Hutchison is still unsure if they will launch this year or next in the UK, next year seems more likely at this point. As they get closer to finishing the development work on their network they announced 60-80 cuts in their 200 person product and market team. Thanks for all your help and have a happy Christmas indeed.
