Carriers Still Don't Realize The Threat Of A Napster For Mobile Phones

It's really not too hard to figure out what's happening in the mobile music space. We've been saying for quite some time that a mobile Napster is on its way and the carriers and the music industry won't be able to stop it. Now, the Guardian has decided to take a look at the space, and the carriers and the recording industry actually seem to believe that digital rights management will magically work this time. It won't. It never has, and mobile phones won't be any different. DRM is easily broken, and, in the end that doesn't even matter since the more open mobile phones become the more they'll be able to route around any carrier installed walls. All you need is an open platform, an MP3 player application on the phone, some software like Xingtone, and all the DRM in the world isn't going to matter.
