Ogo No Go

Remember the Ogo? That was the wireless device that AT&T Wireless launched last year as a sort of Sidekick competitor. It wasn't a phone, but was mainly for doing instant messaging over their network. It had a little keyboard and worked with the major instant messaging services. It was actually one of the first commercial implementations of IXI's "personal mobile gateway" concept -- though, as we noted it was done backwards. The main idea behind the PMG was to make your phone -- which everyone is comfortable with -- as the hub, and then add other devices to it as needed. Instead, AT&T Wireless tried to make this new device the hub, losing much of the point. Apparently many people didn't see the point either, and Cingular has discontinued the device.
