No longer writing assembly code and burning EPROM for stuff regular folks never buy. That life has been replaced with consumer rights issues; copy protection, copyright, DVD backup and helping folks understand the DMCA.

Have read:
Title 17 Circular 92 Chapter 1 (including Chapter 1 Endnotes)
Title 17 Circular 92 Chapter 12 (popular name; Section 1201(a)
DMCA read but resistance is futile is the best summary of that thing.

Machines:
I don't iPhone I Gphone.
Mac user, no Microsoft machine running currently - The coffee maker stand is win98 on a 20MB drive. The PDP-11/34 is unplugged but the excellent power conditioner (30amp max draw) is where iMac G4 and stuff gets juice.

BlueHippo:That ad at 3am is not a lost after school ad. Call me, 1 800 hot chat! (as fairuse)

Was hoping that critter would draw attention. Really! Seeing a blue dancing Hippo at that hour means bad drugs or a con; they where that transparent.

Funny how this week is "bait n switch" report week here and in the EU. Popular wallpaper, ringtone con netted 17 closed web sites per EU TV. CSPAN not to be out done had Cyber [War] talking heads on. That panel addressing World Affairs[?] Counsel, slipped in crime by cyber means.

Everyone on the planet hold hands and say, "I am the firewall, as you are the firewall, and as you are me; we stand together."

And don't get distracted by '9 million dollar cyber bank robbers' con.

Was going to be rash but instead I am thanking Mike for including all of the story. Went to Palmer's youtube page and cranked the sound up. She is a musician 1st, singer 2nd to my ears ["girls want to have fun". Cover; video track]. Not my style of music but it is a popular style. And like those other pop singers out in country she will get a big following.

The listener pool her music is marketed to is going to buy stuff. She is new & the fact she is looking at other revenue methods is good. Record label did it's marketing job and putting advance money out is like book deals; some are better than others.

Observation: flora (WishfulThinking) & fauna (JustTheFactsPlease) on issue (as fairuse)

Hi, the essay comments where the last straw. It was as if Borg command center sent the register and add something order. Resistance is not futile when our rights and wallet are at stake.

The ".. CISAC, a copyright collection society held its "World Copyright Summit," .." is really laughing at everyone. All you need to read is one (1) short press note that has very little hard data -- it is slightly more than a Tweet and less than a proper report. OK, I am being too harsh; it is a good article. Talking compensation? The record labels and radio marketing "tit-for-tat" agreements have stolen more real money from artists than anyone and the following link is just the basics. Everyone should read Title 17 Cir 92 Chapter 1 (start at 106, 107, 114, 115 if lazy) and Chapter 5 (501 ) http://www.houstonpress.com/2009-06-04/music/fight-for-your-right/1

Oh yeah, par-tay CISAC with our money because the customer always pays the tab.

    bye for now. dutch
