RIAA Sends Piracy Complaints To 300 Firms

from the and-we-enter-the-next-phase dept

So, now, we move into the next phase of the increasingly backwards strategy by the RIAA to wipe out file trading. After hinting that they would do so for over a year, they’ve actually sent out 300 letters to various unnamed companies, presenting them with “evidence” that people at the company have been caught downloading copyrighted files. They also threaten to follow up the notices with legal proceedings that could lead to massive fines and loss of equipment for the companies implicated. And, amazingly, file trading will continue, and the old school recording industry will continue to collapse.
